Georgette Heyer's Regency World

My parents really kindly gave me a copy of 'Georgette Heyer's Regency World' by Jennifer Kloester as a 'congratulations on finishing all your uni work' present (don't know if I have graduated yet).  I had been eyeing up this book for sometime but hadn't got round to buying it. The funny thing is I never told them that I wanted it :) - I suppose my obsession with all things Regency might have given them some clue :).  I haven't started it yet as I am saving it for our holiday in Turkey (we leave on Tuesday). I am so excited - about the book and the holiday. :). But I will comment on what I think of it once I have finished it.

The blurb on the back: 'A bestselling novelist since 1921, Georgette Heyer is known across the world for her historical romances set in Regency England. Millions of readers love the outrageous lifestyle, fashion and capricious escapades of the elegant bon ton, and no one has captured it better than Georgette Heyer, with universally beloved novels such as  Regency Buck, The Grand Sophy and Friday's Child.

Georgette Heyer's Regency World is the ultimate, definitive guide to Georgette Heyer's novels: her heroines, her villains and dashing heroes, the shops, clubs and towns they frequented, the parties and seasons they celebrated, how they ate, drank, dressed, socialized, shopped and drove.'

On a completely different note - Yesterday I went to my cousin's wedding and one of the guests was a guy who is playing 'Major someone' (can't remember his surname) in the new series of 'Downton Abbey'!!! :) I was so excited! Sadly he wouldn't tell me anything about the new series as he is contracted not to tell anything! :( oh well.

  1. This is a really interesting and useful book. In fact, I had borrowed it from the library and admired it, and then my husband ordered it for me and surprised me with it the other day when I came home from work! Have fun reading!
